The essentials
In EUR/USD, EUR is the base currency and USD is the quote currency. A price of 1.1000 means one euro is worth 1.10 US dollars. Buying this pair creates exposure to a stronger euro relative to the dollar; selling creates the opposite exposure.
Put it in context
A dealer quotes bid and ask prices. You normally buy at the ask and sell at the bid. Their difference is the spread. A chart price is not a guarantee of the price available for your order.
Before you act
Before placing an order, identify the base currency, quote currency, contract size and trading costs.
