About forex trading sessions
The forex market runs continuously through the weekday as major financial centres open and close. The four common reference sessions are Sydney, Tokyo, London and New York. Session overlaps usually bring more active trading because more banks, brokers and traders are online at the same time.
Session hours, sources and limitations
Sources and automatic updates
Times update automatically while this page is open. Session status and countdowns refresh every minute, and the clock updates every second. Time zone offsets and daylight saving use your browser’s IANA time zone rules. Returning to this tab refreshes the current status immediately.
The four city rows are indicative activity windows, not live broker opening calendars. For actual trading availability, consult OANDA’s official trading hours and holiday schedule. These pages are reference links; their changes are not automatically imported into this tool.
Reference only
Session hours follow local weekdays: Sydney 07:00–16:00, Tokyo 09:00–18:00, London 08:00–17:00 and New York 08:00–17:00. Each city’s daylight-saving changes are applied before converting to your time zone. These are indicative forex windows, not exchange opening calendars. Public holidays and broker-specific trading breaks are not included. An open session does not guarantee that your broker or instrument is tradable. This tool is for timing reference only, not trading advice. Check your broker’s hours and our terms.
